I’ve been locked out of Facebook.
I know why – I was trying to mind my manners. Yesterday, 22nd September 2025, was my internet birthday and, for one reason or another, I got over 150 messages wishing me Happy Birthday! Today I’ve just spent over half an hour going along the list pressing the ‘Like’ button and trying to type in ‘Thank you!’ all that many times, and I think Facebook thought that I was spamming. I guess I was spamming, typing in ‘thank you’ over 150 times, but I was just trying to be polite!
I had to take a moving pic of my face, which I wasn’t particularly happy about. I don’t see any need for my face to be anywhere. I look like a bag of spanners at the best of times, and the last thing I want is for it to be out there in Internetland. They are considering whether my page follows community standards. As it’s mainly full of shared memes, I have concerns that I won’t make the cut.
So if you’re looking for me on Facebook, and you can’t find me, I’m sorry. It wasn’t my fault! And I suppose that now I need to go and learn instagram, if that’s still available!
You’re not the first the over zealous bots have locked out of their own pages due to “spamming” by saying thank you.
I guess we really do need to worry about AI insomuch that it will end up being bots speaking to bots because they will have locked out all the humans 🤣
It all seems very complicated. They didn’t lock me out for long. I think my page is about as harmless as it gets, and is as random as I am so ^probably^ not a bot.
They’ll probably work out about the whole bot thing when the advertising money and clicks start drying up.
